Honda to build CBR 650F in India from 2015

Earlier this month, Japanese two-wheeler major, Honda held the foundation stone laying ceremony for a new manufacturing facility in Vithlapur, Gujarat. This factory, which will be functional in 2015, will be the world's largest scooter only manufacturing facility. During the function, the company also revealed that it would commence production of the CBR 650F in the country from next year.

Honda is yet to finalise the plant from which it will roll the CBR 650F out. The company has not determined the price at which it intends to sell the bike either. However, building the bike in India will go a long way in helping the company keep the price of the bike competitive.

The Honda CBR 650F was displayed at the 2014 Auto Expo, held earlier this year. It is a fully-faired bike with a 649 cc, inline 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces 86 bhp @ 11000 rpm and 63 Nm of torque @ 8000 rpm and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has a telescopic fork suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear and disc brakes all round. The CBR 650F weighs 209 kg and has a 4.5 gallon fuel tank.
