Hyundai i20 scores 3-stars in Global NCAP test

The i20 scored 8.84 points for adult occupant safety and 36.89 points for child protection.

The Hyundai I20 has been awarded a 3-star rating by Global NCAP. It scored 8.84 points for adult occupant safety and 36.89 points for child protection.

As per the test report, the i20 offered adequate protection to the driver's head, while head protection for the passenger was rated as good. The driver and passenger’s necks showed good protection. The driver’s chest showed weak protection while the passenger’s chest showed good protection. Knee protection for the front passengers was rated as marginal. The driver's right tibia showed adequate protection, while the passenger left tibia showed good protection.

The bodyshell was rated as unstable, and it was not capable of withstanding further loadings. The footwell area was rated as unstable.

The child seat for a 3-year old could prevent excessive forward movement of the head. It offered poor protection to the neck and good protection to the chest. The car offered good protection to the head and chest of a 1.5-year old.

The test car was equipped with front seat belt pre-tensioners, seat belt reminder, dual front airbags, ISOFIX and ABS.
