Tata Motors is set to introduce an Indian vernacular language assistant in the Altroz and Nexon. The system has been developed by Mihup Communication - a Kolkata based start-up, in collaboration with Harman International.

The start-up has developed its own solution called AVA Auto, which builds onto the existing voice assistant. It has Hinglish (Hindi + English) language support. The company plans to introduce support for Tamilish (Tamil + English) and Benglish (Bengali + English) languages soon. By 2022, the system is expected to support all major Indian languages.

AVA Auto enables hands-free operation of in-car functions like the AC, phone, navigation and audio system. The system has online, offline and hybrid connectivity options. The offline model has already been rolled out in the Altroz and Nexon. It will be introduced in other models soon.
