Indian Navy hosts a drag race!

The Indian Navy has conducted a drag race between a MiG-29K fighter aircraft and a Lamborghini Huracan Performante at the Goa airport. The race is reported to be a part of an advertisement campaign, which is likely to include a promotional video of the drag race.

It is reported that the Indian Navy is facing a shortage of pilots. The race was conducted in an attempt to inspire the country's youth to join the armed forces by showing the speed difference between a fast car and one of their planes.

In spite of being a lighter and faster version of the regular Huracan, the video shows that the Performante is no match for the fighter jet, which makes a near vertical take-off at the end of the runway.

The Lamborghini Huracan Performante is powered by a 5.2-litre, naturally aspirated V10 petrol engine producing 630 BHP and 600 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h time is rated at 2.9 seconds while the top speed is claimed to be greater than 325 km/h. In comparison, the Russian plane has two RD-33MK engines developing 88.3 kN of thrust each. Top speed of the MiG-29K is rated at 2,200 km/h.
