Jeep Commander (H6) to get mild-hybrid diesel option

The Commander will use a more powerful version of the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that is offered in the Compass, boosted by a 48V mild-hybrid system consisting of a belt-driven starter generator system.

According to a media report, Jeep is likely to offer a mild-hybrid diesel engine option on the upcoming Commander (codenamed: H6) in India.

The Commander will use a more powerful version of the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that is offered in the Compass. The report states that this motor will be boosted by a 48V mild-hybrid system consisting of a belt-driven starter generator system.

The Jeep Commander is a 3-row SUV based on the same platform as the Compass. It could also come in a 6-seater configuration with separate captain seats in the second row. It is said that both the 6-seat and 7-seat variants will have different cosmetic bits that will help differentiate them.

The 6-seat version is likely to get a panoramic sunroof, but the 7-seater might miss out on this feature. Other features such as a large touchscreen infotainment head-unit, digital instrument cluster, and wireless charging are also expected to be on offer.
