Kawasaki Ninja 400 unveiled

Kawasaki unveiled the new Ninja 400 at the Tokyo Motor Show. It is set to replace the Ninja 300 in the international market.

The Ninja 400 is based around a high tensile steel trellis frame which is similar in design with the Ninja H2. The new chassis is claimed to be lighter compared to the Ninja 300's. The engine is rigid mounted and used as a stressed member. The chassis allows riders to adjust various points like the handlebars, foot pegs, seat, etc. through a combination of interchangeable parts with adjustable positions as per requirement. The bike measures 1,990 mm in length, 710 mm in width and 1,120 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 1,405 mm, while the seat height is set at 785 mm. It comes with a 14-litre fuel tank

The front fairing features a twin LED headlamp setup with the turn signals placed lower down, on either side. It comes with stepped seat and a single, side-mounted exhaust. The Ninja 400 rides on 5-spoke alloy wheels. It gets 37 mm telescopic forks in the front and a bottom-link with a 5-way adjustable rear shock absorber.

The Ninja 400 is powered by a 399 cc, parallel twin-cylinder engine which produces 45 BHP @ 10,000 rpm and 38 Nm of torque @ 8,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch. Brakes come in the form of a single 290 mm, petal disc in the front and a 220 mm rear disc with dual-piston calipers at both ends.

Ninja 400 comes in two colour options - Metallic Spark Black, Lime Green and Ebony KRT edition. There has been no word yet as to when the Ninja 400 will be available in India.
