Kia's mid-size MPV for India codenamed KY

The Kia KY is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova.

According to a leaked document, Kia's upcoming MPV for India has been codenamed KY. It is expected to be launched around January 2022.

As per the document, Kia aims to sell 50,000 units of the MPV every year in India. The company is also aiming to export 26,000 units of the same annually.

The Kia KY could be based on the same SP2 platform as the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta. It could be offered with petrol and diesel powertrain options, including the familiar 1.5-litre petrol and diesel units from the Seltos.

In India, the Kia KY is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova.
