Lodgy to be launched in top trim initially

Renault's upcoming MPV - Lodgy, the company's sixth offering in India is expected to be launched in a single variant initially with all the bells and whistles. It will be offered as a 7/8-seater with the 1,461 cc diesel engine with 2 state of tune - one with 84 BHP and 200 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed gearbox and the other with 109 BHP and 245 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The ARAI figures of the Lodgy are 21.04 kmpl for the former and 19.98 kmpl for the latter.

Since it will be launched in only the top trim variant, it will feature 15" alloy wheels, front fog lamps, body coloured bumper ORVMs and door handles and chrome inserts on the front grill and tailgate. Interiors will get features like a driver armrest, electric ORVMs, front and rear power windows, keyless entry, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, AUX-in, USB and Bluetooth, rear parking sensors + camera, cruise control, optional leather seats, dual air-con, reclining middle row etc.

It will include safety features like ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, dual airbags, engine immobilizer, rear wiper + washer, impact sensing auto door unlock and speed sensing door locks.

Renault is clearly striving to position this MPV as a premium offering by launching only the top trim variant initially; lower variants will follow at a later stage. This MPV will take on the likes of the Innova, Mobilio and Ertiga. While dealers have begun accepting bookings for the Lodgy, Renault has still not announced an official launch date. A 2 year or 50,000 km standard warranty will be available with this car.
