Mahindra Thar 5-door to be launched by mid-2024

The Thar 5-door could use the 'Thar Armada' nametag at launch.

Mahindra has confirmed that the Thar 5-door will go on sale in India by mid-2024. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO of Mahindra, revealed this at the company’s last earnings call.

Jejurikar also stated that the 5-door Thar will be built on a separate production line. Reports suggest that it could use the 'Thar Armada' nametag at launch.

The Thar 5-door is expected to get a unique front fascia featuring a redesigned grille and circular LED headlamps, squared-off wheel arches and tweaked LED taillamp clusters.

Inside, the Thar 5-door is expected to get a larger touchscreen infotainment system, heavily bolstered front seats with a large centre armrest and a single-pane sunroof.

The Thar 5-door will be offered with the same engine options as the 3-door version. These include a 2.2-litre diesel producing 130 BHP and 300 Nm and a 2.0-litre petrol that makes 150 BHP and 300-320 Nm. Both engines are likely to be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
