Mahindra Thar 5-door to be unveiled on August 15

Reports suggest that the Mahindra Thar 5-door could be called 'Thar Armada'.

Mahindra has lined up yet another big launch this Independence Day. The carmaker is all set to unveil the Thar 5-door on August 15.

The Thar 5-door shares its underpinnings with the 3-door version. Reports suggest that it could use the 'Thar Armada' nametag at launch.

The overall exterior design will be similar but with a few tweaks to make it stand out. Spy images suggest that the 5-door Thar will feature a redesigned front fascia with circular LED headlamps and revised tail lamp clusters.

Inside, the Thar 5-door is expected to get a larger touchscreen infotainment system, heavily bolstered front seats with a large centre armrest and a single-pane sunroof.

The Thar 5-door will be offered with the same engine options as the 3-door version. These include a 2.2-litre diesel producing 130 BHP and 300 Nm and a 2.0-litre petrol that makes 150 BHP and 300-320 Nm. Both engines are likely to be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
