Mahindra Thar bookings hit the 75,000 mark in a year

The new Thar was launched on the Mahindra Group's 75th anniversary on October 2, 2020.

According to Mahindra, 75,000 Thars have been booked in just a year since its launch.

The new Thar was launched on the Mahindra Group's 75th anniversary on October 2, 2020. According to the company, millennials account for over 40% of bookings. 50% of the bookings are for the automatic variant, and 25% of the total bookings are for the petrol variant. 

The last generation Thar was only offered with diesel engines and a manual transmission. The new model comes with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder mStallion petrol engine that produces 150 BHP and 320 Nm. It is also available with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel that makes 130 BHP and 320 Nm. 

Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive with a manual-shift transfer case is standard across all variants.
