Mahindra XUV500 automatic launched at Rs. 15.53 lakh ex-Delhi

After a long lasting and seemingly endless wait, Mahindra has finally launched the XUV500 with an automatic transmission, adding to its credentials as Mahindra's premium offering. The automatic transmission is offered in three variants of the SUV i.e. the W8 FWD AT, W10 FWD AT and the W10 AWD AT. The XUV500 AT will hit dealerships starting December 5, 2015.

The XUV500's mHawk 140 2.2L diesel engine still produces 140 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 330 Nm of torque @ 1,600 - 2,800 rpm and comes mated with an AISIN (Japan) sourced 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The automatic gets 2 overdrive gears and gets a manual mode as well with a button on the gear lever (no paddle shifters).

On the exterior, the AT models come with an "automatic" badge under the variant badge. On the feature front, the automatic variants get the same features as their manual counterparts, but the W10 FWD AT / W10 AWD AT drop the smart alternator (brake energy regeneration), push button start/stop and passive keyless entry, while none of the AT variants get the engine start/stop (micro-hybrid) function.

The ex-showroom Delhi prices are as follows:

W8 FWD AT - Rs. 15,52,781/-

W10 FWD AT - Rs. 16,36,280/-

W10 AWD AT - Rs. 17,36,730/-
