Maruti Suzuki production down by 51% in September 2021

Maruti's total production dropped by 51% to 81,278 units compared to the same period last year (1,66,086 units).

Maruti Suzuki's production took a hit in September due to the ongoing chip shortage.

Maruti's total production dropped by 51% to 81,278 units compared to the same period last year (1,66,086 units). The company confirmed in a regulatory filing that output was affected due to a shortage of semiconductors.

According to Maruti Suzuki, total passenger vehicle production stood at 77,782 units. 17,163 units of the Alto and S-Presso were produced. The carmaker built 29,272 compact cars which include models like the WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno and Dzire.

Production of the Ertiga, XL6, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza and Gypsy was also affected. 21,873 utility vehicles were produced during the last month. Similarly, Eeco and Super Carry production also declined to 8,025 units and 3,496 units, respectively.
