Mercedes-Benz C-Cabriolet and S-Cabriolet launched in India

Mercedes-Benz India has introduced two new models in the country - the C-Cabriolet and the S-Cabriolet. This takes the count of drop-top roadsters in Mercedes' Indian portfolio to four that also include the SLC43 and E 400 Cabriolet. With the two launches, Mercedes has introduced a total of 11 products in the Indian market this year. There will be one more launch coming in from the German automaker by the end of 2016.

The C-Class Cabriolet has been launched in the C 300 guise. This is the first time that a Cabriolet version of the C-Class has been launched in the country. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 241 BHP and 370 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The C 300 Cabriolet is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds while its top speed is 250 km/h. It is priced at Rs. 60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The S-Class Cabriolet will be the range-topping model in Mercedes' Cabriolet range. It has been launched in the S 500 variant, which is powered by a 4.7-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that churns out 443 BHP and 700 Nm of torque, while being coupled to a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. Mercedes Benz claims that the car can do the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.6 seconds before hitting its top speed of 250 km/h. The S-Class Cabriolet has been launched at Rs. 2.25 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).

Both the roadsters come with electronically foldable fabric roof. It can be operated while moving at speeds up to 50 km/h. The roof can be opted in four colours: black, dark blue, dark brown and dark red. The C-Class Cabriolet comes with a Burmester Surround Sound System with 13 speakers, while its bigger sibling takes the speaker count to 23.
