Mercedes CLS 250 CDI, E 400 cabriolet launching on March 25

Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to introduce two more models in India on March 25, 2015.

The first of the two models is the CLS facelift, of which, Mercedes-Benz will sell the CLS 250 CDI variant. The 4-door coupe features a 2,143 cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine capable of producing 201 bhp @ 3800 rpm and 500 Nm of torque @ 1600-1800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7G-Tronic Plus automatic gearbox.

The CLS facelift gets a a bolder grille, new front bumper with larger air ducts, LED headlamps with Active Multibeam technology, redesigned alloy wheels, a new, aggressive rear bumper and tweaked tail-lamps. On the inside, of the car gets a multifunction, three-spoke steering wheel and a display screen that rises out of the dashboard.

The CLS will compete against the Audi A7 and BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe.

The E 400 variant of the E-Class cabriolet is the second car that Mercedes-Benz is launching. It is powered by a 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, V6 petrol engine that develops 329 bhp and 480 Nm of torque and is mated to a 7G-Tronic Plus automatic gearbox. The car has a claimed 0-100 kph time of  5.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 kph.

The E 400 cabriolet has a 2-door, 4-seater configuration with an electric soft-top roof that Mercedes-Benz claims can be folded into the boot in 20 seconds. It comes with an AIRCAP system consisting of a wind deflector above the windshield, which prevents drafts during top-down driving. The car is equipped with an AIRSCARF neck-level heating system, which blows out warmed air through adjustable vents located beneath each front head restraint.

Both, the CLS 250 CDI and E 400 cabriolet will be brought to India through the CBU route.
