Mercedes GLE Long Wheelbase launched at Rs. 73.70 lakh

Mercedes-Benz has launched the long wheelbase version of the new GLE in India. It is available in two variants - GLE 300d and GLE 400d priced at Rs. 73.70 lakh and Rs. 1.25 crore (ex-showroom, India) respectively.

The GLE LWB has an 80 mm longer wheelbase compared to the regular model. The overall length has also gone up by 105 mm. As a result, rear seat legroom has increased by 69 mm, while head room has gone up by 35 mm. The rear seat has an inclination angle of 30-degrees and it can slide fore and aft by 100 mm.

The GLE 300d is powered by a 4-cylinder diesel engine that makes 241 BHP and 500 Nm. The GLE 400d is powered by a 6-cylinder diesel unit that puts out 326 BHP and 700 Nm. It is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. Both engines come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

E-ACTIVE Body Control 48V air-suspension is available on the GLE 400d. The new system is claimed to reduce body roll and control pitch and squat.

Both variants get MBUX with a touchscreen infotainment head-unit, touch control buttons on the steering wheel, touchpad and voice control. The SUV also gets notable safety features like Active Braking Assist and Blind Spot Assist
