Mercedes recalls 2.35 lakh cars for seat belt buckle issue

According to a media report, Mercedes-Benz has announced a global recall of about 2.35 lakh cars to rectify a seat belt buckle issue.

It has been reported that the systems may not recognize a properly locked seat belt, which could trigger a visual as well as audible warning. If ignored, the pyrotechnic belt tightening system may not be activated in case of an accident.

The report states that models including the C-Class, E-Class, G-Class, CLS, GLC and GT built between June-October 2018 have been affected by this recall.

It is unclear whether Mercedes-Benz cars sold in India are also affected by this recall.
