Michael Schumacher out of coma

Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher is reported to have come out of coma and been moved out of the French hospital where he was being treated.

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, the 45-year old racing ace has left the Grenoble hospital and will continue rehabilitation elsewhere. No further information has been provided on his condition or the location where Schumacher has been taken to.

Through the statement, the Schumacher family has thanked all the treating doctors, nurses and therapists in Grenoble, the first aiders at the place of the accident and all the people who sent their best wishes for Michael.

Schumacher was injured in a skiing incident in the French Alps on December 29, 2013 and had been in a medically-induced coma ever since. Doctors had been working on bringing him out of the coma since late January 2014.

Michael Schumacher, who retired from racing in 2012, has won the Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship seven times - more than anyone else.
