Renault has been testing the Kaptur compact SUV in India. Test mules of the vehicle have been spotted on multiple occasions across India. Now, the car has been spotted once again, this time in Vellore and we have obtained images of the interior of the India-spec Renault Kaptur.

Unlike its European sibling, the Kaptur is based on the same platform as the Duster. It is designed specifically for emerging markets like Brazil, Russia and India. The dashboard seems basic with a twin-pod instrument cluster and has a three-spoke, multi-function steering wheel with chrome inserts. Door handles are also finished in chrome. The glossy black centre fascia protrudes and houses a large infotainment screen and air-conditioner controls. The variant seen here has red accents around the centre console and side air-conditioner vents. The all-black dashboard gets silver trim around the lower part. A possible storage compartment can be seen on the top.

It is rumoured that Renault will offer the Kaptur in a 7-seat configuration. According to media reports, the Kaptur will be offered with a 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. All-wheel drive might be available in the top-end variant.

The Kaptur, which is believed to be launching during this festive season is expected to be priced above the Duster and will rival the Hyundai Creta.
