Need help: My car's stereo system is stuck in mute mode

The Pioneer stereo system started showing the mute sign when we passed over a huge speed breaker.

BHPian hrishig recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

I am facing a strange problem. The Pioneer DEH-P5090UB is permanently stuck in mute mode and I don't know how to come out of this.

The system started showing the mute sign when we passed over a huge speed breaker. Initially, I thought this to be a small glitch, but despite trying multiple things, the sign remains.

I showed it to one car garage, as per the person some speaker might be short. I have my doughts on this angle as the speaker short should result in a complete power-off.

Another shop told to replace the entire head unit.

I don't know what the truth is.

I also tried searching the manual for clues but could not find any.

Please help.

Here's what BHPian VW2010 had to say about the matter:

Sounds like a grounding issue. See if any wires inside or at the back of the unit are open and touching some metal. Just tape it if you find something open. Remove the unit and see if there are any open wires. Try taping and restarting the unit.

Mute in Pioneer generally point to grounding issues. Also, this symptom happened after riding over a bump. Chances are some wire got disconnected and is shorting or grounding.
