New McLaren 765LT Spider unveiled

It takes the supercar 11 seconds to completely raise or lower the roof and can be done so at a maximum speed of 50 km/h.

McLaren has unveiled its new 765LT Spider, which the British carmaker claims is its 'fastest-ever convertible produced to date'.

The new hardtop convertible supercar is based on the brand's 765LT coupe. It carries forward the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 765 BHP & 800 Nm. The engine drives the rear wheels via a 7-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission. McLaren claims that the 765LT spider is capable of the same acceleration timings as its coupe sibling, with 0 - 100 km/h coming up in 2.8 seconds and 0 - 200 km/h taking 7.2 seconds.

This is impressive, considering that the McLaren 765LT spider weighs in at 1,388 kg - almost 50kg heavier than the coupe. It is, however, 80 kg lighter than the 720S Spider; mainly due to the extensive use of carbon fibre all around.

The McLaren 765LT Spider, as mentioned before, comes with a hardtop convertible roof. It takes the supercar 11 seconds to completely raise or lower the roof and can be done so at a maximum speed of 50 km/h.

The McLaren 765LT retains most of the same design, styling and aerodynamic profile from its Coupe sibling. Although, with the addition of the convertible roof, the rear profile has been slightly revised. The 765LT spider even carries forward the 'longtail' active rear wing but has been re-calibrated to offer optimal performance.

Interiors of the 765LT have also pretty much remained unchanged. It carries forward all the bells & whistles from the Coupe.

The McLaren 765LT will be limited to just 765 units worldwide. Prices for the convertible supercar starts at 310,000 Euros (approx. Rs 3.2 crore).
