Planning to restore my 2010 Hyundai i20 Sportz CRDI + getting a remap

I am also tempted to check out engine remapping or Dieseltronic - will figure that out by the time the work is done.

BHPian phi recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

My 2010 i20 Sportz CRDI has been relegated to the status of a beater car for the last year, after I got my Kodiaq. It is also the primary car for my son, and his rather exuberant driving before he was taught the right lessons by the road, and the fact that my attention shifted more to the Kodiaq, led to the i20 being neglected. Then finally, it decided that enough is enough, and went on strike - the AC stopped working and the right rear window stopped closing, all in a few days. I was deferring the plan to restore it as my son's driving was still rough at the edges, but finally, I caved in and make the call to get to work.

I took stock of its situation today, and it feels a little run down. Engine sounds as sweet as ever and the car drives pretty well. Did a scan over OBD - it supports only basic OBD that covers only the engine, and there are no faults. Brakes feel good and responsive. The AC and one rear window does not work. The gear shift has become a little tighter than before, and there are rattles from front and rear suspension. The power steering motor is making a whine - a little louder than it used to. The auto-closure of rear-view mirrors does not work though electric mirror adjustment is fone. There is a dull thud somewhere from near the front right suspension when I turn the steering at low speed. The stepney tyre is blown and needs to be replaced. One headlight is really old and yellowed (the other one was replaced a couple of years back after a small accident) and I should probably replace it. There are small dents and scratches at many places, all scars from my son's learning or from drivers that we hire once in a while. The floor mats, steering and upholstery are wearing, and needs renewal. The roof antenna is broken, and the FM reception is quite bad because of that. There are a few rattles from doors too.

Here is my plan:

1. Get all mechanical/electrical issues examined and sorted out first - suspension, AC, windows/doors etc. Would also get all the fluids replaced. Engine oil and filter for sure. Maybe also gear oil, brake fluid? Air and fuel filters would have to be checked I guess, and I will also get the jaded headlight replaced. I did not get a good reference for a good FNG, and I am not happy with a couple that I have worked with before, so I might go to one of my friends who manages an authorized Hyundai service station.
2. Then I will get it to the paint shop, get all the dents cleared.
3. After cutting, take the car for fixing upholstery.
4. Back to the paint shop for polishing.

I am also tempted to check out engine remapping or Dieseltronic - will figure that out by the time the work is done.

Dear experts on this forum, does this plan sound good? Anything that I might have missed to consider, or anything I should do differently?
