Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman launched in India

Porsche has launched the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman in India at a price of Rs. 85.53 lakh and Rs. 81.63 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated models get the new 718 moniker and are powered by turbocharged, small capacity engines that replace the outgoing model's naturally aspirated power plants.

Though the overall design of the new 718 Boxster and Cayman looks similar to the previous model, Porsche has made some subtle updates throughout the car. These changes include larger air intakes on the newly designed front bumper, new quad-LED front headlamps and a completely redesigned set of alloy wheels. The rear gets the majority of the changes, owing to a pair of reprofiled taillights and a black strip that runs between the tail lamps and houses the Porsche branding.

On the inside, the 718 Boxster and Cayman get a new steering wheel and sports seats, while the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system is now offered as a standard fitment.

In India, the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman have been launched with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out 296 BHP and 380 Nm of torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a 7-speed PDK automatic gearbox is offered as an option. Porsche claims that both these cars can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, which can further be cut by 0.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package. The company-claimed top speed is 275 km/h.
