Pre-production Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe test mule spied

The Citroen Basalt will use the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine which powers the C3 and C3 Aircross.

The Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe, formerly known as the C3X, has been spotted testing in Chennai. The latest spy images reveal a close-to-production test mule of the upcoming SUV.

The Citroen Basalt made its global debut last week. It is an SUV coupe based on the same platform as the C3 Aircross. Although the test mule is still wrapped in camouflage, it does reveal a few details. It has flap-type door handles and is fitted with production-spec tail lamp clusters.

Coming to the interior, the cabin of the Basalt SUV coupe looks similar to the C3 Aircross. It has a large touchscreen infotainment system in the centre and three circular dials for the air-conditioner. It’s interesting to note that this test mule is not equipped with an automatic climate control system.

In India, the Citroen Basalt will use the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine which powers the C3 and C3 Aircross. It develops 108 BHP and 189 Nm and could be offered with manual and automatic transmissions.
