Renault has improved Kwid's safety: Renault India CEO

Renault India's CEO and MD, Sumit Sawhney, has claimed that the company has improved safety standards of its A-Segment offering, the Renault Kwid. This statement comes after the infamous Global NCAP crash tests where the Kwid scored a Zero-Star safety rating.

Renault India further claimed that the car tested by Global NCAP was a pre-production prototype. According to his statement, the company has worked on the model ever since and the production-ready Kwid has been given necessary modifications in order to increase its crash protection levels and minimize cabin intrusion. Global NCAP will be testing the updated Kwid soon.

Commenting on the Kwid's safety, the company MD claims that their budget hatchback already meets all safety requirements of current regulations in India. Moreover, with the new stricter safety regulations coming in 2017, Renault India is positive that the Kwid will 'far exceed' the new requirements as well.

Renault is currently planning to introduce a new 1.0-litre Kwid in the near future. The new Kwid will likely get dual passenger airbags and ABS.
