Renault Kwid receives 50,000 bookings; production ramped up

Renault has announced that it has received more than 50,000 customer orders for the Kwid hatchback since the car's launch on September 24, 2015.

Deliveries of the hatchback commenced across India in the festive season. However, the strong demand has seen the waiting period for the car swell to over six months. Renault claims to have ramped up the production of the car in an effort to enable faster deliveries.

For the Kwid, Renault has increased the localisation to 98%. The company has also increase the number of sales and service outlets from 14 in mid-2011 to 180. It aims to have 280 sales and service facilities by next year.

The Kwid is powered by an 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 53 BHP and 72 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. This car has an ARAI certified figure of 25.17 kpl. The car comes with a 2 years / 50,000 km warranty, which can be extended to 4 years / 80,000 km. Renault is also offering complementary road side assistance for 2 years.

The Kwid is Renault is priced between Rs. 2.57 lakh and 3.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is pitted against the Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon.
