Rumour: BMW to launch i7 M70 electric sedan in India

The BMW i7 competes with the Mercedes-Benz EQS and Audi e-tron GT in the electric luxury car space.

Earlier this year, BMW launched the i7 electric sedan in India. It is available in the single xDrive60 variant, but if the latest reports are to be believed, the carmaker is likely to introduce the i7 M70 in the country soon.

The BMW i7 M70 is the flagship version of the i7 EV. It uses a twin-motor setup that generates 651 BHP and 1100 NM, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

The electric motors are powered by a 101.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers a claimed range of 560 km (WLTP cycle). The battery can be charged using a 22 kW AC charger in 5.5 hours. A 195 kW DC fast charger can top up the battery from 10-80% in just 34 minutes.

The BMW i7 M70 gets several cosmetic bits on the outside that make it stand out. The car gets more aggressive M bumpers, M side skirts and mirrors as well as M alloy wheels with blue brake calipers. The massive grille up front gets a gloss black finish and there's an M rear spoiler as well. Customers can also opt for a dual-tone paint job.

The i7 M70 comes equipped with the M interior package with several M-specific bits, including an M steering wheel, M footrests, executive lounge seating with massage function, a rear seat theatre screen, 4-zone automatic climate control and soft close doors; among others.
