Rumour: Fiat could launch 500 Abarth in November

Earlier this year, Fiat has revealed that it would be launching the 500 Abarth in India by the end of 2014. Latest media reports suggest that the Italian carmaker will introduce the car in the market next month. It will be brought in as a Completely Built Unit.

The 500 Abarth is the performance oriented version of the iconic 500 supermini. Fiat had displayed the car at the 2014 Auto Expo, which was held earlier this year. It has a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 135 bhp. A more powerful version with up to 161 bhp could also offered.

The 500 Abarth is equipped with features like projector headlamps, dual-exhausts, KONI front-shock absorbers, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC), seven airbags and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Fiat is likely to pit the 500 Abarth against the Volkswagen Beetle, Mini Cooper, BMW 1-Series and Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
