Rumour: Hyundai MPV to rival Marazzo & Ertiga

According to a media report, Hyundai is developing a new MPV that could compete with the Mahindra Marazzo and Maruti Ertiga. It is rumoured to be launched in 2021.

The report states that the new MPV could be based on the same platform as the Hyundai Venue. Like its segment rivals, it could be offered in 6 or 7-seat configuration.

At present, the Venue compact SUV is available with three engine options that include a 998cc turbocharged petrol engine, which makes 118 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm @ 2,500-4,000 rpm, a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm @ 4,000 rpm and a 1.4-litre diesel unit that puts out 89 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 220 Nm of torque @ 1,500-2,750 rpm. Transmission options include 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
