Rumour: Jeep Compass might launch in India in June 2017

Jeep is reportedly planning to launch the Compass in India in the month of June this year. The SUV was internationally unveiled in the second half of 2016. It will be the first Jeep product to be locally assembled in India at FCA's Ranjangaon factory near Pune.

The Compass will be the third product from Jeep in the Indian market. The American automaker currently sells the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee in the country. Both these models are brought through the CBU route.

For the Indian market, the Compass SUV is expected to come with two engine options: a petrol and a diesel. The petrol will likely be a 1.4-litre Multi Air Turbo engine, while diesel variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbocharged unit. Both these engines are expected to come with two transmission options: a 6-speed MT and a 9-speed AT.
