Rumour: Kia EV6 electric crossover India launch in May 2022

Hyundai is also planning to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with the introduction of the E-GMP-based Ioniq 5.

Kia is set to introduce its first electric car in India later this year and according to reports, the launch is likely to take place in early-May.

The EV6 is based on the Hyundai Group's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). It comes with two battery options - 58 kWh and 77.4 kWh, both offered in single and dual motor versions. The 58 kWh battery with the single electric motor produces 168 BHP, while the dual-motor version has a combined output of 232 BHP.

The single-motor version with the 77.4 kWh battery packs 226 BHP, while the dual-motor version produces 321 BHP. The top-of-the-line dual-motor GT variant packs 577 BHP and 740 Nm.

Hyundai is also planning to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with the introduction of the E-GMP-based Ioniq 5. Reports suggest that Hyundai's second EV offering could go on sale in October 2022.
