Rumour: Tata Tigor compact sedan to launch on March 29

Tata Motors will likely be launching the Tigor compact sedan in India on March 29, 2017. It is currently being showcased at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.

The Tigor is essentially a production version of the Kite5 concept that was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. It is based on the Tiago hatchback. As a result, the front fascia of the car borrows most of its design cues from the hatchback, while the side gets a notchback like profile, thanks to a sloping roof line and a higher boot lid. Tata Motors claims that the Tigor is a 'Styleback'. The interiors too are expected to be a straight lift from the Tiago.

Engine options on offer with the Tigor will likely include the same 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel units that are found on the Tiago. While a 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard on both engines, Tata might also offer an AMT gearbox as an option with the petrol models.
