Rumour: Volkswagen T-Roc to be launched in 2019

According to a media report, Volkswagen is planning to launch the T-Roc compact SUV later this year. It is expected to be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) under the government's scheme which allows the import of 2,500 units without going through the homologation process.

The Volkswagen T-Roc was unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. It is based on the MQB platform and measures 4,234 mm in length, 1,819 mm in width, 1,573 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,603 mm.

The T-Roc features a 3-slat grille with a chrome border, which is flanked by twin-pod LED headlamps. It has a dual-tone bumper that houses a set of fog lamps and an integrated scuff plate. At the rear, the car has wraparound tail lights, roof spoiler and a dual-tone bumper. In Europe, the T-Roc is available with dual-tone exteriors. On the inside, the T-Roc gets colour-coordinated trim, touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster and a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel.

Reports suggest that Volkswagen is likely to offer the T-Roc with a 2.0-litre petrol engine. This 4-cylinder unit produces 187 BHP and 320 Nm of torque @ 1,500 rpm. The engine is expected be mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission.
