Rumour: VW evaluating T-Roc R for India

According to a media report, Volkswagen is evaluating a performance version of the T-Roc for India. The vehicle being considered is called as the T-Roc R in global markets. It could be introduced in India as the T-Roc GT line.

It is unclear which engine the T-Roc GT is likely to be offered with. The report claims that it could use the 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the race Polo which produces 206 BHP. In Europe, the T-Roc R is offered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 294 BHP.

The T-Roc R gets a sportier front bumper with vertically oriented LED daytime running lights and an R badge on the grille and tailgate. The SUV has a black roof with roof rails and quad exhaust tips. On the inside, the T-Roc R gets black upholstery with R badges.

In India, the regular T-Roc is offered with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 148 BHP @ 5,000-6,000 rpm and 250 Nm @ 1,500-3,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
