Scoop! Mercedes-Benz C 300d discontinued in India

The Mercedes C-Class is now available in two variants - C 200 petrol and C 220d.

Mercedes-Benz India has discontinued the top-spec diesel variant of the C-Class, the C 300d.

Based on the fifth-generation C-Class, the C 300d was launched almost 2-years ago along with the base-spec C 200 petrol and C 220d. It was priced at Rs 61 lakh (ex-showroom) at the time of launch.

The C 300d shares the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder mild-hybrid diesel engine with the C 220d. While the latter has 197 BHP and 440 Nm, the engine in the C 300d has a more potent tune, producing 261 BHP @ 4,200 rpm and 550 Nm @ 1,800-2,200 rpm. The mild-hybrid tech offers an additional boost of 15 BHP and 200 Nm.

Going forward, the Mercedes C-Class will be available in two variants - C 200 and C 220d. Those looking for a sporty mid-size luxury sedan with a 3-pointed star on the hood can opt for the AMG C 43.

The Mercedes-AMG C 43 is imported as CBU and is priced at Rs 98 lakh (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. It makes 397 BHP and 500 Nm.
