Skoda Enyaq iV electric SUV with upto 510 km range unveiled

Skoda has unveiled its first all-electric SUV called the Enyaq iV.

The Enyaq iV is based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB architecture, which also underpins the VW ID.4. It features a distinct Skoda family look with a new 'Crystal Face' illuminated grille and twin-pod LED headlamps. The car sports a prominent feature line on the sides and has a large greenhouse.

At the rear, the SUV gets V-shaped LED tail lights with the Skoda lettering in the centre. Skoda claims that the elongated body of the Enyaq iV has a drag coefficient of 0.27. The car is offered with 18-inch alloy wheels, while the top-spec version rides on 21-inch wheels.

The Enyaq iV gets a sleek, futuristic cockpit with a wide 13-inch touchscreen infotainment screen in the centre and a digital instrument cluster. It also gets a head-up display including augmented reality, tip-to-close electric tailgate, virtual pedal, sleep package that puts the car's systems in sleep mode, ice scraper with tyre tread depth gauge and an optional heat pump for the air-conditioning that reduces the consumption of energy and improves range.

Skoda Enyaq iV powertrain options:

The base variant gets an electric motor that has an output of 146 BHP and 220 Nm. It can hit a top speed of 160 km/h. There are three more versions with higher specifications. These include electric motors producing 177 BHP / 310 Nm, 201 BHP / 310 Nm and 261 BHP / 425 Nm.

The Enyaq RS iV uses two electric motors with a peak output of 302 BHP and 460 Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 180 km/h.

The base variant gets a 55 kWh battery offering a range of 340 km on a single charge. The 62 kWh and 92 kWh battery packs offer a range of 390 km and 460 km respectively, while the Enyaq 80 iV has a range of 510 km on a single charge. The batteries take about 38 minutes to charge up to 80% using a 125 kW fast charger. An 11 kW AC wall charger can recharge the batteries in 6-8 hours.

The Enyaq iV comes loaded with 9 airbags, Proactive occupant protection system, Crew Protect Assist, Collision Avoidance Assist, Turn Assist, Exit warning, and other active and passive safety systems.

The Skoda Enyaq iV electric SUV will go on sale in Europe by the end of 2020.
