Skoda launches Rapid Leisure Limited Edition model

In yet another bid to pep up sagging sales of its top selling car, Skoda India has launched a Leisure Limited Edition variant of the Rapid sedan. The Leisure Limited Edition version of the Rapid, as its name suggests will be sold for a limited period of time, or so Skoda claims. The car gets a few new additions on the features front. Here's a round up of what's new on the Rapid Leisure model, 

• Reverse camera and parking sensors
• Portable navigation system
• Door sill covers
• 15 inch alloy wheels
• Leatherette (artificial leather) seat covers
• Leisure badging

The Leisure variants are available with the Ambition Plus trim level, with two engine and two gearbox options. The 105 Bhp-153 Nm petrol motor gets a 5 speed manual gearbox and a 6 speed automatic unit. The 1.6 liter TDI turbo diesel motor that outputs 105 Bhp-250 Nm, is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. 

The petrol powered Rapid Leisure is priced at 7.79 lakh rupees, while the petrol engined variant with the automatic gearbox is priced at 8.79 lakh rupees. The turbo diesel engined model of the car retails for 9.06 lakh rupees. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi figures.  

The Rapid is a badge engineered car model, what with its base being the Volkswagen Vento sedan. The Rapid shares its assembly line with the Vento, at Volkswagen's Chakan factory, off Pune. Variants of the Rapid sedan are priced lower than equivalent models of the Vento as cars from the Skoda brand are traditionally priced and positioned lower than those from the Volkswagen brand.
