Special Edition Vespa Red launched at Rs. 87,000

Piaggio has launched a special edition of the Vespa scooter. Called the Vespa Red, it is priced at Rs. 87,000 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).

The Vespa Red sports all-red bodywork including red plastic panels, seat and alloy wheels painted in the same shade of red and Vespa Red chrome emblems. At present, the Vespa Red is available with a 125cc engine. However, depending on customer demand, the company might introduce a 150cc version.

The Red's 125cc, single-cylinder engine produces 10 BHP @ 7,500 rpm and 10.6 Nm of torque @ 6,000 rpm. It is paired to a CVT gearbox.

The scooter has been launched in association with the RED organization, which works in the field of HIV / AIDS research and awareness. According to Piaggio, for every Vespa Red sold, the company will donate US$ 50 (approximately Rs. 3,277) to the Global Fund, which is fighting to eliminate AIDS in India.
