Suzuki developing SOS alert system for its motorcycles

Once an accident is detected, the system will send out an emergency signal to the concerned authorities.

Suzuki Motorcycles is said to be developing an SOS alert system for bikes.

The new SOS system from Suzuki will use a number of sensors in combination with the motorcycle's ECU to detect a crash. Once an accident is detected, the system will send out an emergency signal to the concerned authorities. Reports also suggest that the system will be able to predict the severity of the crash.

The patented system by Suzuki will also be able to sense the injury level of the rider, using sensors on the rider's body. Depending on the position of the rider's body post the accident, the tech will determine whether to flag the crash as severe or not.

Having said that, the technology is still in its patent stage, with Suzuki yet to confirm if the system will actually be implemented on any of its products. If the system does get implemented, expect some of Suzuki's flagship offerings to receive the tech first, like the Hayabusa or the V-Strom.
