Suzuki launches the new WagonR Smile in Japan

The company is expecting a monthly sales figure of around 5000 units.

Suzuki has introduced the new WagonR Smile in its home market of Japan. The new Suzuki WagonR Smile is priced between 1.29 million yen & 1.71 million yen (approx. Rs 8.3 lakh to Rs 11.44 lakh).

Sales of the new Suzuki WagonR Smile is scheduled to begin from September 10, 2021. The company is expecting a monthly sales figure of around 5000 units.

The new WagonR Smile comes with a very different design compared to the standard model. The car features sliding doors at the rear for easy ingress and egress. The Smile model is also 45 mm taller than the standard WagonR.

In terms of design, the new Suzuki WagonR Smile features a small minivan look with a boxy design all around. It features circular headlamps units at the front, a chrome grille, minimalistic design on the side, vertically-stacked tail lights and a flat roofline and plenty of dual-tone colour options.

Inside, the new WagonR Smile features a minimalistic cabin, with plenty of features and equipment. This includes a large touchscreen infotainment unit at the centre, steering-mounted controls, dual-tone dashboard, under-seat storage, analogue instrument cluster with a small MID and plenty of seat upholstery options to choose from.

The Suzuki WagonR Smile is said to be offered in three variants, all of them powered by the same 657cc three-cylinder engine. It produces 47 BHP @ 6500 rpm and 58 Nm @ 5000 rpm, paired with a standard CVT transmission. Suzuki offers all three variants with either a 2WD or 4WD option, while the higher-spec trims come with a hybrid powertrain.
