Tata Tiago NRG launched at Rs. 5.50 lakh

Tata Motors has launched the Tiago NRG cross-hatch at an introductory price of Rs. 5.50 lakh for the petrol and Rs. 6.32 lakh for the diesel variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Tiago NRG is based on the Tiago hatchback and comes with a body kit that gives it a rugged look. It measures 3,793 mm in length, 1,665 mm in width and 1,587 mm in height. At 2,400 mm, its wheelbase is identical to the standard Tiago. The ground clearance has been increased to 180 mm.

In terms of styling, the Tiago NRG gets a black grille and headlamps with black inserts. The dual-tone front bumper has a silver scuff plate. Moving to the side, the car gets black plastic cladding along the door sills and around the wheel arches. It has blacked-out B-pillars, black roof and roof rails, black ORVM housings and door handles. At the rear, the NRG comes with a black roof spoiler and a dual-tone bumper with silver inserts. It also has a black garnish on the boot lid. The Tiago NRG rides on new 4-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels.

The Tiago NRG comes with black interiors with dual-tone inserts. It is equipped with a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and 3D Maps and an 8-speaker Harman audio system. Other features include height adjustable driver seat, voice commands and a cooled glove box.

The car is offered with petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol unit makes 84 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque @ 3,500 rpm. The 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder diesel puts out 69 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 140 Nm @ 1,800-3,000 rpm. Both engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The automated manual transmission (AMT) is not available on this model.

Safety features like ABS with EBD and Corner Stability Control, dual front airbags and rear parking sensors are offered as standard.

The Tiago NRG is available in 3 colour options - Malabar Silver, Canyon Orange and Fuji White. It will compete with the Ford Freestyle in the Indian market.
