Vehicle retail sales up by 27% in April 2024

Passenger vehicle sales went up by 15.94% compared to the previous year.

According to the data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), vehicle retail sales grew by 26.74% in April 2024 compared to the same month last year.

Overall sales for the month of April 2024 stood at 22,06,070 units, compared to 17,40,649 units in April 2023.

Tractor sales increased by 1.37%, from 55,857 units in April 2023 to 56,625 units last month.

Two-wheeler sales went up by 33.21% to 16,43,510 units from 12,33,763 units in April 2023.

Three-wheeler sales were up by 9.27% in April 2024. 80,105 units were sold, compared to 73,310 units in April 2023.

Passenger vehicle sales went up by 15.94% compared to the previous year. 3,35,123 units were sold last month, compared to 2,89,056 units in April 2023.

Commercial vehicle sales also increased by 2.31%. 90,707 units were sold in April 2024, compared to 88,663 units in the previous year.

As per FADA, the motor vehicle road tax collection rose to 25.2% from Rs 6,012 crore in April 2023 to Rs 7,528 crore last month.
