Volkswagen begins exporting made-in-India Virtus to Mexico

The Taigun was the first vehicle built on the MQB-A0-IN platform to be exported from India.

Volkswagen has started exporting the made-in-India Virtus to Mexico. The first shipment of 3,000 units is being dispatched from the port of Mumbai.

The Volkswagen Virtus was launched in June this year with prices starting at Rs 11.21 lakh (ex-showroom). The car is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which is shared with the Skoda Slavia.

In India, the Virtus is available in two trims: Dynamic Line and Performance Line. The former is offered with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 113 BHP and 175 Nm, while the latter gets a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that puts out 148 BHP and 250 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DSG.

The Virtus is the second model produced under the 'India 2.0' project. The Taigun was the first vehicle built on the MQB-A0-IN platform to be exported from India.
