Bajaj Auto has launched a new variant of the Chetak 35 series. The new Chetak 3503 is priced at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it the most affordable model in the 35 series.
The Chetak 3503 comes with the same 3.5 kWh battery pack as the higher variants. It has a range of 155 km and can be charged from 0-80% SOC in 3 hours and 25 minutes. The top speed is also slightly lower at 63 km/h.
The Chetak 3503 also misses out on a few features. It has a colour LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity, standard turn indicators instead of the sequential variety, and a drum brake instead of a disc at the front. Other features include two riding modes: Eco and Sports, and hill-hold assist.

Bajaj Auto has launched the Chetak 35 Series in India. The new electric scooter comes in three variants: 3501, 3502 and 3503, with prices starting at Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Bajaj Chetak 35 Series is based on a new platform. The frame has been redesigned such that the battery now sits under the floor. This has helped liberate more under-seat storage, which has gone up from 21 litres to 35 litres. The Chetak 35 also has a slightly longer wheelbase. The seat measures 725 mm in length, which is 80 mm longer than the old model.
The Chetak 35 comes with a larger battery pack and thus offers more range than before. The e-scooter has a 3.5 kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 153 km. Bajaj claims the powertrain efficiency has been improved thanks to a new-generation electric motor and motor controller. The e-scooter comes with a 950 W onboard charger that charges the battery from 0-80% in 3 hours.
The Chetak 35 features a new touchscreen instrument console with built-in navigation from Mappls. It has features like smartphone connectivity, remote immobilization, overspeed alert, accident detection and onboard storage for digital documents.

Bajaj Auto has announced the launch date for the next-gen Chetak. The new electric scooter will go on sale on December 20.
According to media reports, the next-gen Chetak will be based on a new chassis with a floorboard-mounted battery pack. The e-scooter is also said to have a larger underseat storage space compared to the current model.
Reports also suggest that the redesigned battery pack might have a larger capacity, thus increasing the overall range of the Chetak. The battery currently powering the Chetak gives it a range of 123-137 km depending on the variant.
It is said that the new Chetak could feature a similar neo-retro design to the outgoing version. It will compete with the Ather Rizta, Ola S1 and TVS iQube.

Bajaj Auto is working on a new electric scooter platform for its next-generation Chetak e-scooter. The company also plans to expand its Chetak range in the future.
In a recent interview, Rajiv Bajaj, CEO and MD of Bajaj Auto, said, “There will be more Chetaks, and a new Chetak platform, early next financial year”. He also confirmed that the electric scooter will get new affordable and premium variants before the end of this fiscal.
When asked about electric motorcycles, Bajaj responded by saying that e-scooters have far more potential. "As a company, we strongly believe that while scooters and motorcycles will both be popular, scooters in the electric format hold far greater potential than motorcycles,” Bajaj said. “That's why there is nothing ultra about the sale of Ultraviolet, which is 5-10 motorcycles a month I believe, and there is no revolution that Revolt has caused. As for Ola, we will see what happens when they are in the market place. We are staying very focused on EV scooters now, that's the short answer," he added.
Bajaj recently launched the Freedom 125 CNG in the Indian market. The head honcho of the company confirmed that another CNG-powered model would be launched soon. It is expected to be a more affordable variant of the Freedom 125.

According to a media report, the Bajaj Chetak is likely to get a new battery pack offering a higher range.
The report states that the new battery cells will be procured from a different supplier. These cells are said to be more efficient and energy-dense, thus delivering increased range from the same battery capacity.
Bajaj has already introduced the new battery pack on the Chetak 3201 Special Edition. This scooter has the same 3.2 kWh battery but offers a higher range of 136 km on a single charge.
With the rollout of the new battery cells, Bajaj will also adopt a new nomenclature with a 4-digit suffix denoting the size of the battery pack. Just as ‘3201’ is used for the 3.2 kWh version, ‘2901’ will denote 2.9 kWh.

BHPian Ripcord09 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.
Here's what BHPian CentreOfGravity had to say about the matter:
In the family scooter segment, nothing appeals to me. If I have to get a scooter, it would be the Ather 450X eyes closed. It's been over five years since the thing came out, yet it is the sexiest thing out there! Warp mode 'wraps' the package into a whole.
But if you put a gun to my head and tell me to choose from this list, I'd get the Rizta for its well-roundedness or the Chetak for its looks. No Olas for me (I'm not willing to be one of their beta testers) and the iQube looks way too conventional for an EV. The Vida V1 looks too small and the River Indie too big. And I've never heard of the Ampere Nexus.
Here's what BHPian Sensible_Speed had to say about the matter:
I voted for Ather Rizta. It does everything well but doesn't awe you tbh. But, neither of these scooters does. I'd be fine with anything except the Ola. I'm vehemently against that company till they properly validate their products instead of chasing investments. Their culture feels more like a private equity firm than an actual vehicle OEM.
The TVS iQube would have been a strong contender if the recent recalls didn't scare me a little. Their service leaves a lot to be desired too. Icing on the cake is, being in Bangalore, I have an Ather dealership closer to my house than any of the others.
Here's what BHPian SoumenD had to say about the matter:
Not a fan of scooters except Aerox & 450X but strictly among the options in this list, Ritza would be my pick mostly because of its practicality. Huge seat & storage space make it the most practical electric scooter for its intended purpose(carrying a family and shopping bags).
