Hero MotoCorp has filed a design patent for a new electric scooter. The new model will cater to the needs of B2B and B2C customers and is expected to rival the Kinetic E-Luna.

The new Hero e-scooter has a simple, utilitarian design. It has a trapezoidal frame with a flat seat and is equipped with luggage carriers at the front and rear.

The e-scooter has a telescopic fork at the front and is likely to be fitted with dual shock absorbers at the rear. It rides on alloy wheels and is equipped with a front disc brake.

Recently, Hero MotoCorp filed another patent for a new family e-scooter. It is likely to be based on the same platform as the Vida V1 but could be offered at a lower price point.

Kinetic E-Luna launched at Rs 69,990; offers 110 km range

The Kinetic E-Luna is available in two variants and three battery options. The company claims a running cost of 10 paise per km.

Kinetic Green has announced the launch of the E-Luna electric moped. It is available at an introductory price of Rs 69,990 for the X1 variant and Rs 74,990 (ex-showroom) for the X2 variant.

The Kinetic E-Luna is based on a dual tubular steel chassis. It has a removable rear seat, which makes way for a carrier. The company claims a payload capacity of 150 kg.

The E-Luna is available with three battery options - 1.7 kWh, 2 kWh, offering 110 km of range and a 3 kWh unit with 150 km range. The company claims a running cost of 10 paise per km.

A 2.2 kW hub motor enables the electric moped to reach a claimed top speed of 50 km/h. It rides on 16-inch wire-spoke wheels with a telescopic fork at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear.

In terms of features, the Kinetic E-Luna comes with a digital instrument console with a Distance to Empty (DTE) indicator, a USB charging port, three riding modes, a side-stand sensor and a combi-braking system. 

The E-Luna is available in five colour options - Mulberry Red, Pearl Yellow, Night Star Black, Ocean Blue and Sparkling Green.

Kinetic Green is gearing up to launch the E-Luna in India soon. While bookings are set to open on January 26, the electric moped has already been listed on some e-commerce websites, with prices ranging from 71,990 and Rs 74,990 (ex-showroom).

As expected, the Kinetic E-Luna looks similar to the ICE-powered version of yesteryear. The E-Luna has a utilitarian design that appears pretty basic. It has a circular headlamp integrated into a square housing and a rectangular instrument console.

The e-moped has a 2-piece flat seat set at a height of 760 mm and a raised handlebar. It is equipped with a telescopic front fork and has dual shock absorbers at the rear. It rides on 16-inch spoked wheels.

The E-Luna is powered by a hub-mounted electric motor that generates 22 Nm of peak torque. It comes with a 2 kWh battery pack, which offers a claimed range of 110 km and can be charged in 4 hours. The E-Luna weighs just 96 kg and has a top speed of around 50-52 km/h.

Kinetic E-Luna bookings open on Republic Day

Kinetic Green is set to launch the electric version of the iconic Luna in India. The company has announced that bookings for the E-Luna will open on January 26, 2024. Customers can pre-book on the Kinetic Green website for Rs 500.

According to the company, the Kinetic E-Luna is a fully made-in-India product and is designed to be a sturdy and durable EV. It will not only cater to the needs of customers in Tier 1 cities but also the folks in rural India.

Leaked images suggest that the E-Luna could be based on a tubular frame and might look similar to the ICE version. The image also reveals a square headlamp housing with the instrument console on top, a 2-piece flat seat and a flat footboard.

Kinetic Green is yet to announce the technical details of the E-Luna.
