Rumour: Bajaj working on two new motorcycle brands

Bajaj Auto is rumoured to be working on two new brands of motorcycles. The first one will caters to the 100-150cc segment. The first bike under this brand will be rolled out in FY16.

The second brand from the company is expected to be a leisure brand. With this brand, it will attempt to take on Royal Enfield. Bajaj is likely to display a motorcycle under this brand at the 2016 Auto Expo. The brand is likely to be launched in FY17.

Bajaj Auto is also rumoured to be working on a more track-focused version of the Pulsar 200. This new version of the Pulsar is likely to be called the SS200, where SS stands for Super Sport. The bike will be styled differently from the RS200 and will possibly be launched in the second half of FY16. The company is also likely to launch a 400cc version of the bike, which is expected to be named SS400.

The Pulsar brand is also likely to see the addition of the CS400 (Cruiser Sport), which was displayed at the 2014 Auto Expo. The bike is a naked street fighter with a 375cc, 4-valve triple spark, fuel-injected engine and a 6-speed gearbox. This bike is expected to be launched in the second half of FY16.

Bajaj plans to introduce "Cruiser Sport" motorcycles in India

After the introduction of the Pulsar RS (Race Sport) and AS (Adventure Sport) series of motorcycles, Bajaj Auto is mulling the introduction of a new range of motorcycles in India under the Pulsar brand name. This new range will be called CS (Cruiser Sport).

Bajaj had displayed the CS400 at the 2014 Auto Expo. The bike is a naked street fighter with a 375cc, 4-valve triple spark, fuel-injected engine and a 6-speed gearbox. The power and torque figures have not been disclosed. The bike has single disc brakes at the front and read with ABS. Other features include an inverted front suspension, monoshock rear suspension, a short, side-mounted exhaust, all-digital instrumentation and alloy wheels. The concept also had all LED lamps.

It is possible that a 200cc version of the CS range (CS200) makes it to the market as well. It could share the RS200's 199.5cc and 6-speed gearbox. This single-cylinder, 4-valve, liquid-cooled Triple Spark DTS-I power plant is capable of producing 24.2 bhp @ 9750 rpm and 18.6 Nm of torque @ 8000 rpm.

Bajaj has lost a lot of ground to its competitors in the two-wheeler market. With the introduction of new models, it is trying to regain some of the market share.

The CS400 (CS stands for Cruiser Sport) is a naked street fighter with a 375 cc, 4-valve triple spark, fuel-injected engine and a 6-speed gearbox.

Bajaj had also displayed the fully-faired Pulsar SS400 at the Auto Expo. However, the company has not revealed any plans to launch the bike.

Bajaj has been losing ground in the two-wheeler market. To try and arrest the slide, in January 2015, the company announced that it would launch as many as 6 models in 6 months.
