no matter where you get them from please install them on dash board if they are not too bright, if too bright to your taste then the door pad but make sure you find a place where its well protected!

Need inputs on ICE for SWIFT VDI

Hello Fellow BHPIANS!!!

I got my swift VDI (ABS) last week, so it's time for some ice advise!!!

here's what i have shortlisted based on certain threads on team-bhp

Fronts : - Illusion Electra 6.1 6.5” 2 way components
Rears : - Illusion Electra 6.1 6.5” 2 way components

i already have a JBL Sub GT4-12 with a custom base tube enclosure and Sony 4 ch 600w amp and some wiring from my last car ( RCA cables and BOSS wiring)

now i need your inputs... my budget is max 25k for the ice.
which HU should i go for and what brand of wirings would be best for the swift? Also i haven't got a chance to hear how music sounds from illusion components.....let me know if my choice of compos r good enough for my budget.

As mentioned above i have already a component speakers Infinity 6020 at front.

3)Teewters- Where do i get them installed, fit in front doors or keep at dashboard.
1. gt 6" for the rear doors. 6x9s wont fit. Since you have Infinity in the front why not get the same brand in the rear?

2. I have no idea what your dealer was saying.

3. Your best option is the front door.

No need to go for comps for the rear. You could use coaxials or 6x9s.

Are you in Pune or Navi Mumbai? There are a lot of options to audition Illusion and other brands in both cities.

HI Navin

Thnaks for replying to my questions. Actaully i need more clarifications for the following:

1) what is the advantage/disadvantage of having a 6 inch speaker compared to 9 inch one. I am not planning to add a woofer presently.

Nine Inch speakers can be installed at rear using tray

2)Which speakers should i purchase for back door- JBL GTO 637(3 way) or JBL GTO 627(2 way). I can buy infinity also but two way or 3 way is the question, considering the fact that i cannot afford woofer at present

I hope to get your expert advise on the above

My first Car!

Hey dudes! Am getting my red swift VDI delivered in a couple of weeks from now! planning to have a decent music system installed. My budget is max 12K. Need your thoughts on the MGA Sony/Kenwood systems?

will i get a better system for that price outside?

Well assuming that Delhi doesn't get flooded anytime soon (though one doesn't really know with all the global warming and all) - how resistant are they to normal cleaning, car washes etc.? Do I need to put those plastic 'shields' back up next time I have them open?

It would be very prudent to do so, @vebmetal, it would prevent drips on to the rear (magnet assembly etc.).

The front is still at risk from determined pressure washers! You can put balloons on the tweeters, and tape some plastic bags on the mid-bass before you give for service.

Finally upgraded my ICE

Traded in my old Pioneer 400W amp for a new JBL GT5 A604, and also got a 12 inch JBL sub installed, the system rocks but whole car has started vibrating now so got to save up for damping now .

But the interesting thing happened after that, the system conked out after about 30 min of use blowing the power cable fuse with it. Thought may be something wrong with the wiring or speakers but in the end the amp turned out to be the culprit. My guy replaced the amp with a new one and the whole thing was working again, checked the wiring also but everything was in order!!

This is what i got...
HU --> Sony 470 -- > 5500
Rear Speakers --> JBL 937--> 3500
Front Speakers --> JBL 652 --> 2500

The performance of this is good enough. I am pretty much satisfied with this . Also i got this within my budget
