Interesting to read that AL's Cummins engines come from a Tata JV. But which offering from AL in India has Cummins engines?

All variants listed on AL site mention H series 6/4 cylinder engine.

Yhis (FunBus | Ashok Leyland Fun Bus) range does offer Cummins engines as an option. Avia, is an acquisiton.

The semi-sleepers were always non-AC buses. KeSRTC never had AC Semi-Sleeper buses.

The non-AC Semi-Sleepers currently operate only on the TVM-Kannur route - all other routes have either been replaced with normal Air Buses or with AC buses.

The AL CNG buses run on Cummins engines. Although AL was the first company in India to develop a CNG engine for heavy vehicle, their current CNG buses are powered by Cummins Engines.

@hanmust - any reason that Tata tractor is parked in front of Bosch? Or was it just a coincidence?

I also saw two twin rear axle passenger vehicles at Thampanoor in Thiruvananthapuram the otherday. One belonged to SRM.

Saw a few URAL Dumpers with massive wheels doing rounds in New Town Rajarhat, Kolkata. Apparantly they have been deployed by Bengal Brahmaputra Infrastructure.

Tata Cummins makes B series engines at Jamshedpur plant. More that 90% of the output is for Tata. Eicher, AMW etc also use this engines, but dont think its supplied by Tata cummins (JV).

The AL 3531 and some defence application models is fitted with Cummins L series which is made at Pune plant of "Cummins India". Even the ISBE series for Tata World truck and C series on Novus is made at Pune.

AFAIK AL CNG buses for DTC are the only bus models fitted with cummins B series gas engines. Its so, as per the specifications of DTC.

It's just coincidence, there was a convoy of same trucks coming out from a cut road on Hosur Road & first among it parked infront of Bosch!

I have heard the same. But wasn't sure.

When did it become 22 ton from the initial 18 tons? When did Tata respond?

Are you sure KaSRTC still operates them? AFAIK, the service was stopped atleast a year back - I mean the service existed only for a couple of days, after which it was shifted to the Bangalore-Chennai route, and finally withdrawn. (The bus was on trial with KSRTC - no idea if they are planning to purchase it).

In addition to Nakoda, an operator "Padikkal" from Kerala also operates Isuzu buses.
