This is what a Swift's cat looks like. Look at it and tell me it's not really deducting from the engine's breathing ability.
Right !!, 1st thing to throw away is the catcon and plug in an O2 simulator.
None of our Indian cars have the 2nd O2 sensors right ? If not then we dont even have to worry about this.

Newer ones do. The Accord V6 has 4, two for each bank.

Default I wonder what it can do for my moped

Important question is 9 bhp is what percentage of the total ?
I am sure going to buy this for my moped which has very poor power delivery and 0 to 60 is never achieved. With this and an extra 9 bhp I can be the winner at traffic light races only because the opponents would take time to close their jaws from the wheel spin from my fantabulous TVS moped.

If wishes were horses-----, Lalu would be Primeminister!!!?

I've learnt a lot on TBHP - "Never argue with smart tuners like you" bcoz I may just end up with an infraction in the process.
I am not going to argue if removal of catcon is worth it or not ..
Please keep your catcon its good for the environment.
V1p3r..dude if u have removed it please put it back on, its not good for the environment and moped owners/tuners,lalu's and prime ministers or something like that

Default hi

even little 1.1 engine of palio stile has two wide band o2 sensors!
removal of cat con will definately reduce the back pressure.
but it will be bad for the environment...
the wisest<and the costliest!!>solution is to fit the cat co of a much bigger car!!
say palio 1.6 cat to maruti mpfi 800.
it will solve the problem f the auto enthu without hurting the environmentalist...

Phew! Just read this whole thread and I must admit, it's a real "Myth Buster"

I'm using a K&N replacement (panel) filter in my Alto MKIII (Maruti Zen).
The only two things I noticed is the change of tone of the intake sound and
the car feels a bit more "responsive" when overtaking on the highway.

I emphasize on "feels", since I never actually timed the difference between
the stock paper filter & the K&N replacement filter, when overtaking.

Don't think I'll buy another K&N filter for my next car, an Alto MKIV (Alto VX). Instead, I'll just change the stock filter more often. I can buy a pile of
stock filters for the price of one K&N filter

There IS someting I want to add to this thread;
- would adding heat-insulation to the existing stock intake system be a good idea?

Absolutely -- these chips are like small computers. Actually 2 chips are the way to go. Then it is like a dual core computer in your ECU. All of the signals get processed almost twice as fast and the car is much more responsive. I heard claims of 45-60bhp, but I think 30+ is more realistic and repeatable. Putting more than 2 chips in will require more complex work as the voltage supplies need to be beefed up to handle the chips as well as cooling needs to be increased. Talking about cooling, these chips run hot and are located in the engine bay so adding heatsink to chip (even the stock one) will help. For advanced applications water cooling can also be applied.

I guess you are joking here.. Otherwise, I suggest that this post be moved to the "Overclocked CPU" thread

Take that with a bucket full of salt, you wont even get 20bhp. 45bhp is almost 50% gain in power, you think its possible?
