250r costs 3.25l on road here in Baroda. 300 will be at least 25 grand more. This gives the cbr400 plenty of room to command a premium compared to the cbr250r and still be considered affordable compared to the ninja 300. If they price the cbr400 at just about 3lacs Honda will have a happy sales year

Re: Unveiled : 2013 Kawasaki Ninja-250R!

So Finally Ninja 300R has made its debut in USA at Times New Square, in the worthy company of ZX-6R. Priced at $4500, its around $200 costlier then 250R . Considering the US price I think non ABS version would be close to 250R price only which would boost the numbers.

Wait is now ON. I seriously hope they launch it with ABS as this would be my convincing mantra (for my family) to bring one home.

Waiting, waiting waiting......

Getting off topic but saw some spy pics of CBR 500R and CBR 500 (naked) on a site. Could be a CKD from Thailand. I am sorry I am putting it here but if true Indian bike lovers would be ending this year on a GALA note.

One thing more that we need now is better road and some race tracks. With these higher CC sportsbike becoming accessible I can imagine only place to show power and compete would be our roads. God save but I can foresee crashes.

Regards,
Maddy

I'm not sure the 300 will make it to India. Is it mentioned anywhere ?
Anyway, if it does come to India and below 3.50L.... WOW! It'll be great!

Meanwhile I have my task cut out to get wife on-board for this one
Extra 1L, he can have a wardrobe full of clothes in that... hard to negotiate on those terms

Its 3.4lac OTR here in Kerala for 250! This should well go beyond this price. 25-50k extra should be the right price. If above 4 or so, you can pust extra and get the 650!

Read about it, using 250's engine! A two cylinder or single, we gotta see.

Re: Unveiled : 2013 Kawasaki Ninja-250R!

I think the roll out of new Ninja is a strategy to bring Ninja 650 to the spotlight. If the price comes close to 4 laks, then obviously the 650 is going to gather more numbers.
And if both the bikes manages to get good numbers, then its a win-win situation for the Bajaj-Kawasaki venture. And, of course, the CBR250 has the price advantage which is the most significant factor in Indian motorcycle market.

Re: Unveiled : 2013 Kawasaki Ninja-250R!

I am seeing on other portals that the launch date of Ninja 300 is late 2013??? This is pretty sad. I am seriously hoping this bike hits Indian shores by Jan 2013, am seriously thinking of buying this one. But can't wait till 2013 ends...

Any one has any idea when this is coming to India and at what price.

Re: Unveiled : 2013 Kawasaki Ninja-250R!

I really hope the bike is launched by mid 2013, by May-June latest. I've had my eyes on the 250R for the past 2 months and these upgrades have convinced me to wait for a few more months.
Hopefully we'll have some solid information about its launch in India in the next couple of months, fingers crossed.

Well there is too much to differ between 300 (or 250R) and 650 excluding cost and BHP, biggest being sports and sports tourer. IMHO 650 can be considered bigger sibling of CBR250R as both are practical bikes and value for money. Ninja 300 (250R) are entry level sports bike and next upgrade would be something like Ninja ZX6R before any liter class machine. 650 is an altogether different destination.

I would choose a Ninja 300 over 650 not because of cost but only due to sportiness (Not saying that 650 is not sporty). But only if 300 carries everything that 250R , with 6 more BHP (I am hoping)

Maddy

Regular junta do not buy Ninja , they buy a car at the price of Ninja 250 and a bigger caar at the price of 650.

exactly. price matters. for a similar spec people would tend to go for a bike that is priced half of what the competition demands. between a closely priced 300 and 650 , 650 wins.

It's not always about the price. "Kitna Deti hai" is an equally important question. Running costs do matter. Even if the prices are concerned 650R would be at a premium of 2 lakhs over the 300 in any case. Which I think is not a comfortable gap for commoners like me

With an unlimited budget I agree to your point about going for 650R but when money comes in 300 takes the cake.

I am seriously wishing for some localization for this one.

Re: Unveiled : 2013 Kawasaki Ninja-250R!

you folks may find this interest. These are the chassis dynamometer tests by Cycle World Magazine of the Ninja 300 vs the CBR 250 and outgoing Ninja 250 (except this is the US model thats carbed instead of injected).

This is a HUGE performance leap over the 250s. Please note that the carbed ninja 250 was not very different from the injected one in peak power. It was weak in throttle response because of lean settings to ensure clean emissions.

You sure about that?
I thought dyno curves of India/UK speck FI 250 motor would be pretty close to the new Ninja 300 owing to only a couple less horses and around 5 nm less torque at 11000 RPMs.

The Fuel injected Indian Ninja 250R produces 33 Bhp@11000 and 22 Nm @ 8200 rpm peak torque compared to anemic US spec Ninja 250.

Re: Unveiled : 2013 Kawasaki Ninja-250R!

No I am not sure about that. I could be wrong. I suggest hunting up a ninja 250 vs CBR250R dyno plot from Europe. You can't compare differing dynos to each other. The three plots above are all from the same dyno, so if we can find a plot of a 250R vs CBR250R, we'll know where it stands.
